The Art Buyer is responsible for purchasing and estimating materials as they relate to photography, illustration and stock footage. The art buyer evaluates supplier quotes and services to determine the most desirable approach for the project. Familiar with a variety of styles, the art buyer has great knowledge of local and national photographers and illustrators. Research is a key attribute to the process, and the art buyer combines this with sound creative judgment in presenting the very best supplier options for the project.
The key role of the Art Buyer is to secure still imagery for commercial use. This involves finding the right photographer or illustrator for the concept and managing the process behind producing the image. The Art Buyer is expected to collaborate with the Creative team to gain a full understanding of the concept while applying his or her comprehensive knowledge of photography and illustration styles. Photography shoots are managed by the Art Buyer, including production coordination of talent, locations, etc. The Art Buyer works directly with the Creative team and the photographer to establish solid communication and to deal with any concerns that arise during the production. Budgeting, rights, clearances and talent are all things that the Art Buyer is expected to secure and manage throughout the process.
Another aspect of the position is purchasing stock imagery from approved stock sites. This involves obtaining pricing and purchasing and licensing the images. The Art Buyer must monitor the use of hi-res downloads to ensure that we are licensing everything appropriately and diligently pursue the removal of images with expiring licenses. While the monitoring of downloads and expirations is one of the more tedious aspects of the position, it must be done correctly to avoid high costs. Keeping accurate records is essential in this position. The Art Buyer will also participate in VML’s new Skyway asset management system with regards to stock imagery and licenses.

Head for the Cure Foundation Coordinator Core Duties
- Support Head for the Cure Chairman and the Manager of Events and Programs as required in daily administration of Foundation activities.
- Coordinate with volunteer leads in each Head for the Cure event city (currently in Kansas City, Wichita, Denver, Lawrence, Columbia and Dallas).
- Maintain and manage Head for the Cure databases in all event cities.
- Coordinate communication with sponsors, major donors and team leaders.
- Coordinate marketing calendar for metro Kansas City 5K and be the liaison with VML implementation team in creative, production, email marketing and facilities.
- Attend Head for the Cure Executive Board meetings, serving in an administrative role; send out timely meeting notes following meetings; and follow up with board members as required.
- Coordinate VML’s participation in Head for the Cure, including sponsorship, volunteer and event participation
- Serve as subject matter expert in Verge registration software solution, which manages registration, donations and team participation for Head for the Cure events and programs.
- Serve Head for the Cure clients/customers as first level of support for all Verge registration software inquires and trouble-shooting. Coordinate with Verge software technicians at VML for second- and third-level trouble shooting and software improvements.
- Write, post content updates on headforthecure.org, and post regular content updates on Head for the Cure Facebook and Twitter sites.
