VMLER IPHONE APP HITS #1 – PROCEEDS BENEFIT VML’S HAITIAN RELIEF EFFORTS
Over the past eight months, Charlie Keum, a senior art director in VML’s New York City office, created an iPhone application in his free time. Charlie’s app, called iSwing, analyzes the subtle nuances of a person’s golf swing. The popular app features a built-in video recorder to capture someone’s golf swing, which can then be replayed frame by frame, in slow motion or shown via Motion Echo.®Lines can be drawn over the swing path to check angles and captured images can be shared with golfing buddies. The iSwing app is available for the original iPhone, 3G and 3Gs. It recently hit the top of the charts in the sports category and is #1 in the Sports App Store. The success of iSwing occurred, coincidentally, during the devastating earthquake and aftermath in Haiti. Charlie thought it would be most fitting to donate a portion of the iPhone app’s proceeds from its week at #1 to Red Cross relief efforts through the VML Foundation. He recently presented a check for the Haitian relief to the VML Foundation, and VML doubled the contribution by matching Charlie’s donation dollar for dollar.
Golf Magazine called iSwing “quite possibly the best invention for mobile golfers” and Apple recognized it as “Feature Worthy.” Charlie’s iSwing app can be downloaded from the iSwing website at http://www.iswingapp.com/.
