Adam Katz
President, Blue Square Alliance Against Hate
Antisemitism and faith-based hate are on the rise in America. Despite representing only 2% of the U.S. population, Jewish people are the target of nearly 70% of faith-based hate crimes. The Blue Square Alliance faced the urgent challenge of cutting through the noise, reaching unengaged Americans, and convincing them to become active allies in the fight against Jewish hate.”
The organization understood that combating hate required a message that couldn’t be misinterpreted. Words often fall short in addressing hate and violence, but a simple, unmistakable symbol could inspire solidarity and empathy.
VML partnered with the Blue Square Alliance to relaunch the Blue Square #🟦 as a universal emblem of unity against Jewish hate. The campaign “When There Are No Words” leveraged television, digital, social, and out-of-home media to re-establish the Blue Square as a powerful, instantly recognizable call to action. With activations ranging from TV spots during NFL broadcasts to partnerships with interfaith groups and national organizations, the Blue Square became a shared language of solidarity—easy to wear, share, and spread online.”
