In today's digital-first world, accessibility isn't just a nice-to-have, it's now a legal imperative

The European Accessibility Act means that as of June 2025, companies must ensure that marketed products and services meet compliance requirements (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1*) to ensure their digital products and services are accessible to everyone - or risk major fines.

This puts any organisation that is not set up to deliver against the accessibility needs of their customers at risk of financial and reputational damage. To help your business get a clearer view on what the EAA means, the actions to take, and how VML can help you, we've produced a simple, short guide.

How VML can help

VML's comprehensive accessibility services help organisations to:

  • Assess their current accessibility status
  • Identify and prioritise areas for improvement
  • Implement necessary accessibility changes
  • Maintain ongoing conformance

*Whilst WCAG 2.1 guidelines are the baseline for compliance, this is expected to be updated to WCAG 2.2 in due course.
