DET China Winter

DET China Winter Campaign 2025

Dubai. A city to fall in love.

This couple's trip had a third wheel, they just didn't know it was a cat.

This Winter, we turned one very possessive feline into the secret star of a campaign designed to change how Chinese couples see Dubai. Equal parts comedy and courtship, the story follows a jealous cat's failed mission to sabotage his owner's romance, and along the way, reveals why Dubai makes the perfect backdrop for couples looking to fall deeper in love.

DET China Winter Main Film

Dubai offers Chinese couples endless ways to holiday, but Winter and CNY are peak season, with brands battling fiercely for attention. Cutting through this noise meant more than another beautiful destination film. It meant finding a creative platform that spoke to a generation of Chinese couples on their own terms, one rooted in genuine cultural insight, not just scenery. Our challenge, ahead of the 2025/26 Winter and CNY season: turn Dubai into more than a backdrop, and make it the reason two people choose each other, again.

Our inspiration was two-fold. Research revealed a powerful shift: post-90s and post-00s Chinese couples now see travel as a relationship milestone, with over 70% marrying for personal happiness, not obligation, as self-growth trumps tradition. Dubai then becomes the stage where they test their bond and deepen commitment. To win attention on Chinese social, we needed disruption, so we cast a cat as our narrative device, tapping into China's insatiable love of cat content to charm audiences into watching, and feeling, the story.

We brought this insight to life through a charming comedy told from an unlikely narrator: a jealous, possessive cat. Secretly shadowing his owner on her Dubai trip with her boyfriend, he's determined to sabotage their romance and reclaim his throne as the only "prince" in her life. But as the couple explores the city together, hitting a few fun, awkward bumps along the way, the cat's schemes backfire, and he begins to see what we want audiences to see too: this relationship, and this destination, might just be the real deal. Love wins. So does Dubai.

Launched to fuel bookings across the high-stakes Winter 2025 and CNY 2026 travel window, the campaign built meaningful awareness of Dubai as a premier couples' destination. By weaving a long-form comedy narrative through the city's most romantic and iconic locations, we reframed Dubai in a new light: a place for connection, not just consumption. The result: deeper engagement, broader destination consideration, and a fresh emotional hook for Chinese couples weighing where to make their next relationship memory, positioning Dubai firmly on their shortlist for the holiday season.
