Girls wearing the +MET helmet

+MET PROJECT

Homeware that saves your life.

Challenge

Japan ranks as one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world, with an average of 4,860 earthquakes every year. Despite the fact that there are regulations and laws when it comes to disaster prevention, few people apply this mindset when it comes to preparing for it in their own homes. So, how could we seamlessly blend emergency kits into people’s daily lives?

Inspiration

What if we were to combine earthquake safety helmets with everyday furniture?

Creative solution

Together with Japan’s top helmet manufacturer, we developed the +MET PROJECT, a new design-driven range of emergency products that double as stylish home décor. The POT serves as an attractive pot for plants, which in an emergency can be deployed as a regulation-quality safety helmet. The LAMP doubles up as a helmet and the base as a flashlight.
