Self-exams for cancer detection are medically crucial, yet adherence remains persistently low in Brazil. CEPIA identified an opportunity to address this issue by leveraging real stories of couples who accidentally discovered cancerous growths in their partners. The challenge was to create a campaign that would introduce a new health habit while addressing a sensitive topic in a respectful and engaging way.
The campaign was inspired by real-life stories of couples who unintentionally discovered early signs of cancer in their partners, leading to timely medical intervention. This insight sparked the idea of turning accidental discoveries into an intentional and life-saving health habit.
CEPIA evolved the solitary self-exam into a shared act of intimacy called "The Partner-exam." The campaign encouraged couples to examine each other for early signs of breast, testicular, and skin cancer, making health and care a natural part of their relationship.
The campaign used intimate photography and bespoke typography shaped by human touch to visually communicate the concept without feeling gratuitous or gimmicky. A digital hub with doctor-led tutorials provided couples with step-by-step guidance on how to perform the exams, blending education with intimacy.
- The campaign reached over 30.4 million people through a mix of media, including national newspapers, magazines, cinema, connected TV, high-traffic public spaces, digital billboards, and mobile placements across 12 major Brazilian cities.
- The concept earned validation from Brazil’s leading oncologist and sparked widespread conversation on social media.
- By turning accidental discoveries into an intentional health habit, CEPIA expanded the self-exam and empowered couples to prioritize each other's health.
