Traditional pain assessment relies on subjective patient reporting, which can be influenced by a patient's ability to articulate pain, creating disparities in care due to language barriers, cognitive impairments, cultural factors and individual pain tolerances. PainVisible addresses the urgent need for an objective pain measurement tool to ensure every patient receives the care they deserve, regardless of their ability, to articulate their pain.
The inspiration behind PainVisible stemmed from the desire to break down communication barriers in pain management and create a more equitable healthcare system. It allows pain to be discussed within a universal language, empowering healthcare professionals to make informed treatment decisions for every patient, regardless of their background or ability to advocate for themselves.
PainVisible utilizes a portable thermal camera connected to a smartphone that detects heat patterns on the body's surface that are indicative of pain. An AI-powered app analyzes this data, comparing it with thousands of patient studies and environmental factors, to provide doctors with accurate assessments and evidence-based treatment recommendations. By providing an objective measure of pain, the tool eliminates biases and communication barriers, leading to more precise diagnoses, personalized treatment plans and improved patient outcomes.
PainVisible is transforming pain management by promoting equitable access to effective pain relief. It's currently being used in hospitals across Spain, with the potential to revolutionize pain management globally.
