Job Description

The goal is to elevate customer experience and inspire people to buy well through creative commerce. All these to be achieved with a human first approach.

The Role

At VML, we turn real behavioural data into actionable insight that informs communications at both strategic and implementational levels. The goal is to strengthen our Creative Commerce offering to our clients and as the expert partner to our colleagues. 

As a Commerce Strategist you will work closely with Head of Commerce Strategy to develop strategies and connection plans to support existing and new clients. Collaborate with Client Engagement and Creative Teams to help grow our client’s businesses by bringing actionable insights, creative briefs and inspire our creative teams. Insights-driven, curious, listen, learn & respond with purposeful thinking or approach. 

The Commerce Strategist must be capable of developing key shopper audience insights, channel insights, value propositions, and developing strategies that integrate consumer engagement, customer (trade) management and omnichannel route-to-market opportunities, define performance criteria at project development stage and ensure relevant results measurement.

Driving collaboration with cross functional teams – enjoy the process and the journey with team members. You will ideally have experience across all channels to allow you to confidently manage integrated projects across a range of exciting clients. Curious to understand the motivations, beliefs and behaviours of people and translate insights into compelling propositions and actionable solutions, you will contribute to developing activating Creative Commerce ideas across multiple retail and media channels and platforms that grow the client’s business.

You will be expected to:

  • Able to work on different types of channels and their shopping missions, purposes for brand/category growth.
  • Have an aptitude towards data analysis, GenAi and insights.
  • Establish and maintain a strong client partnership with key clients.
  • Fully immerse yourself in our client’s business and understand the business problems and growth opportunities of the category.
  • Demonstrate outstanding strategic thinking and contribute in client meetings, adding value to the bigger picture by providing fresh and inspiring new perspectives.
  • Act as an internal partner to the agency client engagement teams and Creative leads, identifying and defining opportunities to contribute to the Client’s business, bringing consumer/market and channel planning to develop more effective commerce strategies. 
  • Work closely with VML partners and WPP resources to deliver strategic alignment between consumer and trade activity in both conceptual and executional terms.
  • Identify and share commerce intelligence with the team and Company.
  • Demonstrate an ability to extract and work with data to drive meaningful information & insight.
  • Ensure creative ideas are supported by customer and marketing insights that will meet client business objectives.
  • Understand the expectations, including required outputs and timelines for all projects you work on.
  • Contribute to Agency wide initiatives such as new business development, internal business transformation and thought leadership.
