“Christmas should be a magical time for children, yet many are faced with the daily turmoil of living in confronting, violent and volatile situations within their own homes.”

Bec Stott General Manager Philanthropy, Anglicare WA

Anglicare WA’s Child Counselling Service creates a pathway of recovery for children experiencing domestic violence. Using art, music and play therapy as part of the recovery, it is vital service for children across Perth and surrounding Peel region.

The festive season isn’t joyous for everyone, with 1 in 5 families experiencing domestic violence. Created from the perspective of the children the service is designed for, the campaign uses traditionally happy Christmas cues to highlight the way children experiencing domestic violence might experience this time of year.

This campaign increased awareness and funds for Anglicare WA's Child Counselling Service, helping more children reclaim their childhood amidst growing demand and lack of government funding. It was so successful, it was evolved for a second Christmas in 2024 – and fundraising objectives were smashed again.
