Delivery riders are among the heavy users of the Movistar network in Colombia. They drive more than 90km daily, for more than 10 hours a day, to deliver food, groceries, and errands to all the main cities in the country. Their bike skills, driving through heat, rain, and traffic, are so good that they can compete on a semi-professional level.
The delivery riders' skills on their bikes, driving in hard conditions through a city that never stops, are similar to the skills you need to be a professional cyclist at the Movistar Team. Even though they don't have the same support, equipment, or guidance, they give all to accomplish their goal. We saw this as an opportunity to put them closer to a new dream: training with the real Movistar Team.
Using our Movistar network and Strava, the essential app for athletes, runners, and cyclists, we find the best delivery riders on the streets of Colombia, through weekly challenges that give them the opportunity to win prizes and bonuses. The best ones were selected and contacted to train with the Movistar Team, with the right conditions, in order to make their dream come true.
Since its launch, the platform has recruited several delivery riders, created a mouth-to-mouth movement between them, and given them the opportunity to win prizes like cellphones, cases, and protection equipment to drive their bikes properly.
