Who we are looking for:

VML is seeking an Account Supervisor (AS) who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Brand Messaging team on the United States Marine Corps account. The AS supports their Business Director (BD) to oversee the development and orchestration of assets within mass media that are created for the Marine Corps to generate awareness and position the brand effectively within the military category.

Areas of focus include but are not limited to: strategic research projects that inform branding and messaging decisions, largescale/fully integrated brand campaign planning, execution, and maintenance, paid media asset management, organic social media asset management, and miscellaneous small scale content/production efforts.

For this role, the agency is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, proactive self-starter. You will partner closely with your BD and Project Manager (PM) to help manage client communications as well lead cross-agency communications to deliver great work. You’ll understand what’s needed in the short and long term and work closely with cross-discipline leads to ensure success. We require someone who will be a true partner to our client and cross-functional agency team, and who will support the larger team in creating revolutionary creative work. 

What you’ll do:

  • Communicate with your client counterpart daily, to stay on top of requests and deliverables that are associated with USMC Brand Messaging and Awareness
  • Liaise between clients and internal team to ensure client requests and feedback are communicated clearly and accurately
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert in the Brand Messaging area while working closely with your inter-agency team to leverage point of views that add value to any task at hand
  • Protect the Marine Corps brand, ensuring strategic alignment in everything you do
  • Serve as main point of contact and key driver for development of new campaign ideas and their executions, shepherding all different disciplines/partners with a positive attitude, trust, and committed work ethic. Take a 360 view and help ensure the right people are involved and weighing in at the right time
  • Learn and demonstrate knowledgeable understanding of audience media behaviors and consumption habits
  • Maintain situational awareness of enterprise level happenings on the USMC account that can be leveraged on the Brand Messaging team
  • Must retain a strong understanding of the entire Marine Corps contract, how it works, how the business runs as a collective unit to remain profitable for the agency, and how your programs fit into the bigger picture.
  • Actively review efforts executed through the Brand Messaging team and bring optimizations and new ideas to the table whenever possible
  • Communicate effectively with clients and provide the necessary feedback to support the program, to include times when agency data or insights may suggest an alternate direction from what clients may request.
  • Self-regulate in terms of time management and organizational skills.
  • “Manage-up” to the Business Director/Account Director and other agency peers, leaders, etc.
  • Proactively update senior account leadership on issues that may arise, such as topics of interest (i.e., challenges, program successes, etc.) that may impact national-level efforts and/or the business.

What you’ll need: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a creative agency with a minimum of 3 years of client-facing experience.
  • Specific experience with campaign development and production
  • Attention to detail with demonstrated follow-through on scheduled deliverables.
  • Ability to travel for campaign productions that take place throughout the year
  • Passion for building relationships that result in new, profitable revenue opportunities as well as driving incremental growth on existing work.
  • Strong understanding of account finance, billing, and adherence to budgets.
  • Proven ability to negotiate Statements of Work and contracts – effectively forecasting and scoping work with teams in close collaboration with Project Management.
