Who we are looking for:
VML is seeking an Account Director to lead the day-to-day management of a large national client in the optometry and eye care space, serving as a team lead to expand and optimize their CRM strategy and marketing automation platforms. This role is with a successful retailer that recognizes the need to adapt to ensure future success and targeted consumer outreach.
What you’ll do:
- Client | Oversee day-to-day agency/client relationship. Craft growth strategies, concepts, and business development blueprints for client value. Be pro-active in assessing client needs and demands and delivering added value to the client wherever possible. Become a subject matter expert in client’s field, speaking clearly to the competitive landscape, products, services, trends, and brand positions within the client’s business. Identify opportunities to enhance the client's CRM strategy, leveraging data-driven insights to improve customer engagement, loyalty, and lifetime value. Contribute to successful launch of marketing automation platform offerings for email, SMS, and PUSH notifications.
- Team | Serve as agency champion. Manage, inspire, and motivate project teams across multiple agencies, internally and externally. Guide the team in developing and executing CRM strategies, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and leveraging the latest CRM technologies and best practices. Partner closely with Strategy, Project Management, Measurement, and Analytics teams to fully understand the client’s consumer targets to develop relevant CRM plans.
- Process | Find innovative ways to build new best practices and push the business forward. Identify process improvements related to CRM data management, segmentation, personalization, and campaign optimization. Navigate complex technical challenges across multiple systems.

What you’ll need:
- 8+ years of advertising or marketing experience; agency experience required.
- Understanding of CRM programs & strategies within an agency setting, with prior experience managing client accounts that use marketing automation platforms, ideally in the Adobe portfolio. Experience in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) preferred, including real-time CDP (RTCDP), Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and Customer Journey Analytics (CJA).
- Expertise in omni-channel media strategies & content across paid to owned digital channels including email, SMS and PUSH notifications and use of CDP for audience and segment activation as well as paid media targets or suppressions.
- Experience and a proven approach to building relationships that result in new, profitable revenue opportunities as well as driving incremental growth on existing work.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful CRM strategies, including segmentation, personalization, and campaign optimization.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Marketing Cloud, etc.) and their capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to inform CRM strategy and optimize campaign performance.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and collaborate in a team-oriented workplace, fostering career growth for the individuals on their project teams.

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below.
