What We're Looking For:
We're looking for a Performance Content Director in our Discoverability capability to lead commerce strategies for our major CPG client. As a Performance Content Director, you'll use data to create engaging content that boosts product discoverability and drives performance. This role requires strong leadership, strategic execution, and a focus on client success.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, data-driven leader with a strong passion for consumer behavior and content's role in driving commerce. This Performance Content Director is adept at both high-level strategy and meticulous execution, consistently focusing on performance and measurable results. This individual is a natural collaborator, capable of guiding and developing a team while also contributing to business growth and client relationship management. They thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, demonstrating a continuous learning mindset regarding industry trends. What You'll Do:
As a Performance Content Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing content strategies that enhance our CPG clients' online retail presence and drive commerce. Your responsibilities will include:
Content Strategy & Development:
- Lead the development and execution of performance-driven content strategies, encompassing visual content recommendations and commerce-specific content (product descriptions, PDPs).
- Identify content gaps, research new topics, and distill complex information into clear, accessible language.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand voice, style guidelines, and project specifications, while optimizing for SEO and accessibility.
- Proactively recommend and implement style guide enhancements to maintain content consistency and clarity.
Client & Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to define content needs, present strategies, and secure buy-in through effective and persuasive communication (verbal and written).
- Manage multiple content projects, ensuring timely delivery and responsiveness to client feedback and revisions.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment in messaging, branding, and style across all initiatives.
Team Leadership & Quality Assurance:
- Supervise, mentor, and provide oversight to junior associates, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge, high-quality search and performance content.
- Conduct thorough reviews of junior team members' work, upholding consistently high standards and customization for each client's unique needs.
- Actively participate in employment decisions, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
Business Development & Industry Acumen:
- Proactively engage in new business initiatives, including RFPs, scoping requests, and resource planning.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends in content, commerce, and search to continuously inform and evolve content development practices.
- Drive content innovation through thought leadership, case studies, proactive opportunity identification, RFP contributions, style guide refinement, and integrating emerging content/commerce technologies like AI.
Who You Are:
- A seasoned content professional with 9-11 years of experience in content writing, marketing, advertising, or a related field, preferably at an agency or working with CPG brands.
- A proven expert in commerce content (PDP content strategy, product descriptions, content optimizations, retailer content wireframes, etc.).
- Highly proficient in grammar rules and constructing clear, compelling sentences.
- Experienced in optimizing content for SEO and accessibility.
- A critical thinker who can develop innovative solutions to complex content challenges and distill complex concepts.
- Proficient with common writing tools (AP Style Guide, Grammarly) and familiar with AI platforms (e.g., WPP Open, Gemini, ChatGPT)
- An excellent communicator, able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with strong presentation skills and the ability to develop a cohesive narrative.
- A relationship builder, able to collaborate effectively with team members, departments, retailer contacts, vendors, and clients.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively manage timelines and deliverables for multiple content projects simultaneously.
- Receptive to feedback from multiple sources and a lifelong learner, staying current on rapidly changing industry standards.
What You'll Need:
- Demonstrated experience in content creation, strategy, and management for web and commerce platforms.
- Skilled in comprehensive research on diverse topics and brands related to Performance Content.
- Deep understanding of performance content, commerce, and search trends, with a meticulous approach to detail and quality.
- Strong understanding of SEO, AI tools and concepts, and content optimization within the retail and evolving commerce space.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Passionate about innovation and staying ahead of content and commerce industry trends.
- Strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below.
