For the Final Four basketball tournament, VML and Wendy’s connect the thrill of a dunk with the most iconic dunk of all – Wendy’s fries in a Frosty.
For the first time ever, Wendy's brings these two items together as an official meal so fans can experience the feeling of throwing down a dunk all tourney long. By the end of the tournament, you won’t be able to see a 360-jacknife-double-clutch slam dunk without thinking about dunking a fry in Wendy’s Frosty.
This March Madness, we're celebrating all the ways our fans dunk – whether it’s Hot & Crispy Fries in our Classic Frosty or Tendys in our Wendy’s Signature Sauce. Every dunk at Wendy’s is a slam dunk. We’re giving fans more ways to dunk and more reasons to enjoy their favorites while they watch the tournaments.
How can Wendy’s amplify its iconic Fries and Frosty pairing during March Madness while engaging basketball fans and driving brand awareness?
The thrill of a slam dunk on the basketball court inspired Wendy’s to celebrate the creativity and individuality of dunking—whether it’s a basketball or a fry in a Frosty.
Wendy’s partnered with VML to launch the Wendy’s Dunk Team, connecting basketball slam dunks with the beloved act of dunking Fries in a Frosty. Wendy’s also planned to sign active college basketball players to NIL deals if they dunk during the tournament, creating buzz across social platforms. To further engage fans, Wendy’s announced a giveaway of free small fries and Frosty classics on 4/7 if a dunk occurs during the National Championship game on 4/6.
By making Wendy’s Frosty and fries the Official Dunk of March Madness, we wanted people thinking about Wendy’s when they see a dunk on the court. And we couldn’t celebrate dunks without celebrating the players actually throwing them down. So, every dunk during the tournament becomes a chance for that athlete to land a Wendy’s NIL deal. Come on, Dunks!
